The adaptation of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, who became a worldwide bestseller, had to be at least as good. Nick Cassavetes had a tough time casting the two actors who played the lovers for the 2004 movie. Many actors didn’t want to play Noah Calhoun, but the director knew that Ryan Gosling would be the right actor to bring the character alive.

The Notebook is a love story that follows a relationship between a rich woman and a poor man. They try to keep the relationship secret while they’re madly in love. Rachel McAdams played Allie Hamilton.

Noah was described by several actors as having few characteristics and being Allie’s boyfriend. He was also deemed uninteresting by other actors besides Allie. Cassavetes believed that Ryan Gosling was the right man for the role. In a behind the scenes footage, the director once said that finding an actor to bring out love-at-first sight emotions in him would be a challenge. When Gosling was mentioned, he felt confident that the Barbie star would be “weird” enough to pull it off. The director apologized to the actor after calling him “weird”.

Ryan Gosling, in a 2012 interview with Company Magazine, shed light on the casting and revealed how he got the role. The actor revealed Cassavetes came to his home and told him he had gotten the role because he wasn’t handsome or cool. Weird, right? Let’s hear him say it again. Gosling described the hilarious meeting: “When I got there, he was standing in his backyard, and he looked at me and said, ‘I want you to play this role because you’re not like the other young actors out there in Hollywood. You’re a regular guy, not handsome or cool.

The 2004 film was a hit with the audience, and Ryan Gosling made them all emotional. He won several awards for his performance.

With time, Gosling has become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. He last appeared as Ken in Barbie starring MargotRobbie, which earned a whopping $1 Billion.
