After dating for seven years, Lee Hyeri, Ryu Juni-yeol and Reply 1988 (2016) have announced that they are no longer together. Their agencies confirmed the split after reports that the two former lovers would part ways, but remain close friends. The news has been a blow to Ryu’s and Hyeri’s fans who have supported the couple since they announced their romance in 2017.
The sad news was announced by the agencies of Ryu Jun-yeol, C-JeS Studios and Lee Hyeri, Creative Group ING: “It’s true, they split up.”
Starring as Sung Deok-sun (Hyeri) and Kim Jung-hwan (Ryu Jun-yeol), the former couple was part of a love triangle in the drama, along with Park Bogum‘s Choi Taek, as the neighborhood friends explored the complexities of love, life, and losses while forming a formidable relationship. While Deoksun, Taek and Jung-hwan end up together on screen, fans were thrilled when Jung-hwan ended up with Deoksun.
News1 reported earlier that Lee Hyeri decided to end her romantic relationship with Ryu Junyeol, according to Soompi. After a detailed conversation, the couple also decided to stay friends, the report said. It added that their mutual colleagues and friends were also devastated by the recent development.
Fans were shocked to see the update on the verified X page Pop Base. They jumped to the comments section to express their disbelief.
