
BLACKPINK, aka BLINKs fans, can now rejoice that the members of the Kpop band have decided they will continue as a K-pop group under YG Entertainment. Jisoo and her four South Korean band members, Rose, Jennie, and Lisa, are currently one of most popular girl bands in the world. Not only as a girl band, but also as individuals, they have thrived.
Fans were worried when the contract between the band and the company expired a few months ago. There were rumors about whether or not they would renew their contract, but fortunately for the fans things went in a positive way. Scroll down to find out more about the Kpop group’s contract with YG.
According to a report by Munhwa Ilbo, BLACKPINK is renewing their contract with YG Entertainment. The report revealed that two members have already signed the contract, but their names are still under wraps. Jisoo Rose Jennie and Lisa will continue to work together, but they will not be pursuing their exclusive contract with the firm.
“Nothing is confirmed. We are in discussion,” said a YG Entertainment source when asked about the exclusive deal BLACKPINK members have with the company. The contract of the group expired in August after the BORN PINK World Tour concluded. The members of the band will be reunited for band activities, while pursuing their individual careers including endorsements.
CNBC reported today that shares of YG Entertainment had risen over 3% after news broke that BLACKPINK had agreed to renew their contract.
Jisoo is on cloud nine, as Lisa, Rose and Jennie have won their first Billboard Music Awards ever for their BORN PINK Tour. They won the award for Best K-Pop Touring Act. Their tour included 66 concerts in 32 cities in 22 different countries. YG Entertainment claimed that 2.11 million people watched their world tour.
