IND vs AUS World Cup final
The Indian cricket team, the host nation, is aiming to repeat their 2011 success at home by winning a World Cup. Australia, on contrast, had a poor start with losses to India and South Africa.
The team made a remarkable recovery, winning the remaining seven matches to secure qualification with 14 points. India qualified for the final after beating New Zealand in an exciting semi-final on November 15 in Mumbai, while Australia defeated South Africa in a tense game in Kolkata on November 16
India’s cricket team, led by former captain and cricket icon MS Dhoni won the World Cup at the 2011 World Cup hosted in India, ending a 28 year drought. Australia holds the record of the most wins, having won the cup five times in 1987 (1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015).
Australia, meanwhile, is keen to extend their record by securing their sixth ODI World Cup. India is also motivated by the desire to end a ten year ICC trophy-less streak.
