Virat Kohli, the star Indian cricketer, achieved another milestone on Thursday during IND vs SL Cricket World Cup match. The 34-year old has now surpassed Sachin Tendulkar as the player with the most 1000+ runs in an ODI calendar year. Kohli has now achieved the 1000-run mark in ODIs an unprecedented 8 times.

Sachin Tendulkar, the Master Blaster of ODI cricket, held the record for most runs in a single ODI match.

The former Indian captain surpassed another batting icon during the match against Sri Lanka. Kohli, with his 70th 50-over half-century, surpassed Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara as the player who scored the most fifty-plus scores in World Cup history by a non opener.
