Shan Masood played 30 Tests in Pakistan. Shaheen Afridi is a proven T20 performer, having taken 64 wickets in 52 games.
PCB made a surprise announcement by naming Shan Masood the new Test captain. Senior pacer Shaheen AFridi will be leading the T20I team. The Pakistan Cricket Board has not yet made any announcements regarding the 50-over format. Babar Azam resigned as captain of Pakistan in all three formats following their poor World Cup run in India.
Shan Masood is the only Pakistani to have played 30 Tests.
The left-handed batter, Shan Masood, has played 30 matches in the longest format. Masood has scored 1597 runs and averages 28.52 when playing Test cricket. He also has four centuries and seven fifties to his name. The 34-yearold batsman played his last test match against Sri Lanka back in July of this year.
Shaheen Afridi on the other had played 52 T20Is, and taken 64 wickets. The left-arm pacer was a key performer in white-ball formats for Pakistan. It remains to be seen if the Pakistani team performs well under the new leadership.
