Chelsea and Manchester City are among the teams in Europe that have signed Bayer Leverkusen’s youngster Florian Wirtz. Several clubs in Germany, England, Spain, and other countries were interested in signing Wirtz, a 20-year-old striker. Other than Chelsea and Man City, three other English clubs – Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Arsenal are ready to go all out for Wirtz. Wirtz is also being pursued by Bayern Munich and Barcelona. The player’s contract with Leverkusen expires in 2027.
Hence, these European giants will have to empty out their pockets if they want to bring Wirtz in. Wirtz debuted with Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, when he was only 17 years old. He has been able solidify his position in the first-team. In the last three years, he has made over 100 appearances for Leverkusen. He has also played 12 times for Germany’s national team. The young forward was forced to miss the World Cup last year due to a serious injury.
This season, however, he has played a crucial role in the table-topper of the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen. He has been involved with 12 goals this season, scoring four times and assisting eight times in 12 Spartans. Wirtz scored a stunning goal in their latest Bundesliga win against Freiburg. Leverkusen Coach Xavi Alonso commented on the incredible goal. “I don’t think I have seen a special goal from him yet.” The dribble was followed by the dribble again, and then the shot.
Coach Alonso also agrees that Wirtz has a rare talent. He said that the 20-year old is a rare talent. “We talked about Flo recently. The things he does. I can’t tell him these things. Wirtz is reportedly interested in working with Pep guardiola, the coach of Man City. He could, however, be inspired to join Chelsea by his former teammate Kai Havertz.
