As “Poatan” prepares to challenge Jiri Prochazka for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 295 on Saturday, Israel Adesanya has offered his predictions on Pereira’s chances of winning.
Adesanya wrote on his YouTube page that Pereira was a special person. “Not just a warrior, but a special person. I know this because I’ve been there with him a lot. He’s a special human being and he has a special talent when it comes down to putting people to bed. He can do it with anyone.”
Few fans will forget Pereira’s strength display when he defeated middleweight champion Sean Strickland to earn his title at UFC 276. Pereira had only competed in 3 UFC fights before taking on Adesanya and the middleweight championship.
“Poatan” will have more pressure going into UFC 295 as he looks to get revenge on his teammate Glover Teixeira for losing to Procházka at UFC 275. This was the last time that the public saw the Czech boxer duel before he sustained a severe injury to his shoulder. Despite this, Israel Adesanya believes Procházka will triumph when he returns to Madison Square Garden.
According to the betting odds, Pereira is the slight favourite to defeat Jiri prochazka this weekend. However, it’s important to keep in mind that “Poatan” has never competed at light heavyweight in the UFC before, with his only victory coming via a close split decision over Jan Błachowicz in July.
