Gremio now sits second in the table with 59, equal to Brazilian Serie A clubs Botafogo e Palmeira.
Luis Suarez showed glimpses of the prime he once was on Thursday. The striker rumoured to have been on Messi’s Inter Miami’s shortlist next season scored a stunning hat-trick in just 19 minutes, giving Gremio 4-3 victory over Botafogo. Gremio is now joint-top of the Brazilian league with Botafogo, both teams having 59 points.
The visitors were in a tough spot in the top of the table clash. Gremio was 3-1 down after the first half, following Marlon Freitas’s goal. The hosts had taken the lead earlier after Diego Costa, a former Chelsea striker, and Junior Santos scored.
Botafogo wanted to end a three-game losing streak which had seen them lose the top spot of the league.

Suarez had other plans. He scored his first in four minutes after Botafogo’s 50th minute third goal. It was an opportunistic finish with the left foot after a scuffed-up ball.
Luis Suarez scored his second goal just three minutes later to equalize the match and turn the tide in favor of the visitors. The former Liverpool and Barcelona striker scored the winning goal when he ran on to a deep ball, curled it in the far corner and then equalised the match.
Gremio is now second in the table, with 59 points. They are level on points with Brazilian Serie A sides Botafogo & Palmeira. Bragantino is fourth in the Serie A table and only a point away from the top three.


Since joining Gremio, Luis Suarez is in a dazzling form. Since wearing the club colours in early January, Suarez scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 28 league matches.
ESPN Inter Miami, a MLS team, has reportedly already agreed to sign the forward. He will be joining the club for a year with a second-year extension option.
Renato Gaucho announced in October, that Gremio’s striker would leave the club after the current Serie A season.
