Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is expected to lead India in the T20 series against Australia starting November 23, is the favourite to replace Hardik Pandya.

Hardik Pandya is out of the India-Australia T20 Series (IND vs AUS T20 Series). The series starts on Oct 23, four day after the Cricket World Cup Final. The squad will be announced on Wednesday November 15, as selectors were waiting for an update regarding the premier allrounder.

Hardik Pandya’s BCCI Medical team recommended a 6- to 8-week rest period after he suffered a ligament injury during a Cricket World Cup league game against Bangladesh on October 19, 2018. BCCI replaced Hardik Pandya with Prasidh Kshirsa after the swelling didn’t subside. Hardik Pandya will attempt to make a successful comeback during the white ball series against South Africa, which takes place in December.
