The meme-fest that followed India’s disappointing batting in the IND vs AUS final was a result of their poor performance.
The Indian batting line-up, which was in great form, crumbled during the IND vs AUS World Cup Final at Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad on a Sunday. Shubman Jadeja, Shreyas iyer and Ravindra jadeja, the three stars of Team India’s batting in the tournament, were unable to get going in a difficult pitch. India finished the match with 240 runs in 50 overs.
Rohit Sharma, India’s skipper, began his innings in a very aggressive manner. Australia made the breakthrough when Shubman Gill, who was out on 4, was dismissed.

Will fortunes favour Sanju Samson?
Sanju Samson was the favourite to land a spot in the India Cricket Team for the Cricket World Cup. The selection committee, as well as Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravi, chose Suryakumar Yadav despite Samson’s superior numbers in ODIs.
With Ishan Kishan set for a comeback in T20s despite a string of poor shows, Sanju Samson’s place could be in danger. Yashasvi jaiswal and Ruturaj gaikwad will be the two designated opening batsmen. If Ishan is selected, he will have to take the third slot.
Is Samson’s place in danger?
Ishankishan and Sanju Samuel are fighting for the right to play competitive cricket until Rishabh pants returns. Ishan Kishan is a long-term player who has the trust of the team management.
Sanju Samson has never been a clear case. The team management never promised him a spot on the squad, nor in the playing XI. He was not given a preferred slot to bat. It has been a difficult time for the Kerala Captain, as he’s not an all-rounder.
A senior BCCI official informed InsideSport last month that Sanju Samson would be considered for the series.
“There is time. Some of these guys will have a break following the World Cup. It will be a chance for Ruturaj, Yashasvi, or Sanju to perform well and cement their position. The selectors will decide who they want to have in the team. InsideSport spoke to a senior BCCI official.
Rohit continued his counter-attacking style of cricket, scoring a quickfire 47 points before Glenn Maxwell defeated the Indian skipper.
Rohit’s wicket was the turning point, as India could not get going at the same pace. Virat Kohli (54) et KL Rahul (66) scored gritty fifties, but failed to rotate their strike and Team India was restricted to a score below par in the big finale.
The poor batting performance of India has spawned a meme-fest.
Here are a few reactions:
This is Australia’s eighth final in the ODI World Cup. India is in their 4th ODI World Cup final.
