Didier Drogba, at the Ballon d’Or’s presentation, interrupted and asked the French supporters to show respect to Emiliano Martinez. Emiliano Martinez who won the World Cup in 2022 with Argentina accepted the Yashin Trophy for the 2023 Ballon d’Or. However, as the custodian took the stage at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris, the supporters of France jeered him.
As he walked up to the podium to accept his award, the screen showed Martinez’s save of Randal Kolo’s last-second World Cup goal from 2022. The French supporters in amphitheatre were booing the stopper.
