David WarnerOur bowlers set the tone right from the first ball. The fielding also supported this. There was a little nervous energy in Heady and Marnus’ dressing room but they made a great team.
Marnus LabuschagneWhat we have achieved today is incredible. It’s by far the greatest achievement I have ever had. India was the team of the tourney, but you always knew you could win if played your best. Travis and our bowlers put on an incredible show. The way that everything has unfolded is unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. Two months ago, I didn’t even make the one day team in South Africa.
Glenn MaxwellIt was a lot of work but it feels great. I was resigned that I would not have to bat, but Heady got a wicket. What a win! It’s quite different to watch Heady face Bumrah. Marnus was outstanding in absorbing the pressure. Heady was outstanding with his ball-striking.
Josh HazlewoodI think it was bigger than the World Cup victory in 2015. The Indian fans are the best. Tonight, when it counts, we’re on the same page.
Steve SmithIt was a great performance. The bowlers were excellent and the fielding was superb this evening. We fought hard and played to the strengths. It wasn’t a great start, but we were confident. We were able do it because Australia usually plays well in these situations. [big] moments. We also won the Test Championship.
Mitchell StarcPat Cummins’ performance was outstanding and he had been excellent throughout the entire tournament. It was the perfect end to an incredible eight-week period for this group. To win a World Cup in India…bloody successful and bloody enjoyable.
