Board of Control for Cricket BCCI in India for selecting a slow and worn pitch for the crucial game at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The pitch that was used in the final is the same pitch that India played Pakistan in a League stage. This pitch had also been criticized for its lackluster pace.

Not the first time, BCCI is under fire for pitches

During the semi-final World Cup match between India and New Zealand, in Mumbai, there were concerns raised about the pitch. Initially, Andy Atkinson, ICC consultant, recommended pitch number seven to be used for crucial matches.

A last-minute change was made to the pitch. Instead, pitch number six was chosen, which had previously been used for England-South Africa matches and India-Sri Lanka games. The problem was quickly resolved when a batting surface was created at the Wankhede Stadium.
