India ended the Asian Archery Championships on the final day with 7 medals. Three golds, a silver and a Bronze.
Parneet K. Kaur, an Indian, has been crowned Asian Champion. The 18 year old beat her compatriot Jyothi surekha Vennam on Thursday 9th November 2023 in an all Indian Women’s Individual Compound Archery Final of the Asian Archery Championships.
India won two additional gold medals that day in the Women’s Compound Archery teams event and the Mixed Doubles Compound Archery events respectively.

Jyothi surekha and Parneet both tied 145 – 145 in the Women’s Individual Final. In the subsequent shootout the latter was able to win the match with a score 9-8. Parneet has won his first individual gold at the Asian Archery Championships.
Jyothi Vennam, meanwhile, failed to defend her individual gold medal. She, Parneet K. and Aditi S. Swami won the gold medal for the team event.
The trio defeated Chen Yi Hsuan of Chinese Taipei, Huang I -Jou, and Wang Lu -Yun by a score 234 – 233. The trio is now the reigning World Champion as well the Asian Games Champion and the Asian Champion. They are also the top three in the world.

This is India’s second Gold medal in the Women’s compound team event of the Asian Archery Championships. The last gold was won in 2017. Jyothi Surekha, Trisha Deb, and Parveena were all part of the team back then.
Aditi Swami & Priyansh won the gold medal in the Mixed Doubles compound event. The duo defeated Thailand’s Kanoknapus Kaewchomphu & Lertruangsilp Nawayut by 156-151.
Abhishek verma wins bronze medal in Asian Archery Championships
Abhishek Varma, of India, took home the bronze medal at the Men’s Individual Compound event. He defeated South Korea’s Joo jaehoon in the bronze-medal play-off 147-146. This is his second Bronze medal at the tournament this season. He won the bronze medal in Men’s compound teams earlier. His team mates in the team competition were Prathamesh fuge and Priyansh.
India finished the Asian Archery Championships of 2023 with seven medals, including five on the final day. The Women’s Recurve Archers won bronze in yesterday’s team event, along with the Men’s Copmpound Archery bronze. They failed to secure a place in the Olympics.
